FUNERALS – WHY HAVE ONE AND WHAT TO INCLUDE – PLANNING
Tuesday 3rd November, 10am in All Souls Chapel, with refreshments served upon arrival.
Why hold a funeral and what would you include in the service?
There are many adverts for direct cremation (No Funeral) which offer a different approach, but Christians believe that it is important to gather family and friends, to give all an opportunity to mourn and to celebrate life. In a Christian funeral we entrust our loved one back to God, who loves us first and always.
Come along to hear more about the meaning of a Christian funeral, reflect upon the various options available to you and discuss thoughts and ideas with others. We will also make available our funeral planning form, and a range of other helpful resources, which can help you to gather your ideas together – one of the best gifts you can leave your loved ones after you have died, so they know exactly what you want.
We hope this will be a positive and informative session, reflecting upon the meaning and depth of a Christian funeral and why we feel they are so important.
ALL SOULS’ EUCHARIST 2026 – 10AM SUNDAY 1ST NOVEMBER
It is customary to remember those who have died on All Souls’ Day. If you would like the name of your loved one read out in the Eucharist, please write their name on the list which can be found at the back of St James’ Church on the wooden lectern.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION AUTUMN 2026
We are hosting a Confirmation service within Holy Communion here at St James’ Church on All Saints Day, Sunday 1st November 2026, 6pm – with Bishop Paul Davies presiding. Candidates are asked to be in Church by 4pm for a short rehearsal and then to meet Bishop Paul. In advance candidates are asked to supply a very short, two paragraphs about their sense of/call to faith, which needs to be sent to St James’ in advance so Bishop Paul can keep each in his prayers.
All St James’ candidates need to read our study course book, ‘Faith Confirmed’ by Peter Jackson and complete and return the Confirmation Application Form to the Parish Office. Thank you. Confirmation Application Form

Regular Activities for Parents/Carers with Children
Family Service Junior Church The Ark Poster – Family Service Junior Church The Ark Poster Autumn Winter Term 2026
THE ARK Monday’s of TERM-TIME from 9.15 – 11.15am, is a group for parents/carers with babies, toddlers and pre-school age children. We begin with play and refreshments, before leading into a time of songs and stories. Cost £2. per child. Adults – don’t forget to bring your re-usable cups for coffee!

JUNIOR CHURCH (Sunday School) We meet on the 1st, 3rd, 4th & 5th Sundays of term-time, in the Small Hall at 10am for church designed for children aged 4-11 years. We have prayers, a bible story (often linked to what is happening in the church service) a song and make a craft. We join the Eucharist in Church at communion and then show our work.

FAMILY SERVICE 11:30am 2nd Sunday monthly for 30 minutes – worship for families with children (aged up to 14 years) with fun songs, bible story, craft, talk, drama and stickers! Just turn up.

LEGO CLUB held on the 3rd Sunday monthly at 4pm – The Next Lego club is Sunday 18th October. We meet in the Parish Centre (Small hall) for a story before building our creation in bricks. We share a simple meal together. Cost £3. per child. Book in by sending an email to: info@stjamesweybridge.org.uk

PRINCESS FREDERICA CHARLOTTE OF PRUSSIA – GRAVE
The grave of Princess Charlotte is located within the Churchyard at St James’ Church. The grave has been cleaned, and thanks to the generosity of a donor, the railings have been redecorated.
