Did you know, it costs £4k a week to run St James’ Church.
Regular financial giving, also known as Stewardship, is an essential pillar of St James’ Church income, which helps us meet our running costs and invest for the future in ministry, mission and outreach to Weybridge Town Centre. Over a third of parish income comes from the generosity of our community, for which we are so thankful. To help us with our budgeting, we are encouraging our congregations to give regularly utilising the Parish Giving Scheme PGS (rather than standing order or cash in envelopes/collections, which costs us money and time to administer).
Why support St James’ Church financially?
Giving regularly to church is not just about keeping the Sunday service going or looking after our beautiful church building, it is an essential part of our Christian calling to mission. It is the faithful and consistent financial giving that enables St James’ Church to minister to our congregation and to the wider parish of Weybridge. Our generosity and a shared responsibility makes mission and ministry possible, both by giving financially and in the way we use our time and abilities. Our giving is reflected through every family welcomed in our church, every service we celebrate, and the difference we make in Weybridge. Without your generosity, we can’t do what we do and we dream to do much more for God’s glory and the building up of God’s Kingdom.
Under the leadership of Weybridge PCC, our church has a Church Development Plan (CDP leaflet June 2024), with priorities for the next few years including re-pointing the Tower/Spire, creating a new sustainable Garden of Remembrance and adding Toilets to the church building. We want to expand our work with youth, such as providing an after school club, and a youth choir. To achieve these wonderful things, we must sustain and grow our financial position, including careful budgeting.
Your financial giving to church allows us all to support the ongoing Christian ministry within our community, pay our contribution to the wider church through our Parish Share contribution to Guildford Diocese, and with God’s blessing, achieve some of the exciting things we would like to do for the future. Here are some slides to help you understand how monthly financial giving (preferable via PGS) helps us budget at St James Church:
What does the bible teach us about good stewardship?
From a financial perspective, in 1 Corinthians 16:2 Paul encourages us to follow the example of the Galatian church and teaches us that our giving should be:
In Romans 12: 4-6, St Paul teaches that while we are all members of one church family we have been given different skills (talents). Do look at your time and skills, as well as money and ask yourself how you may be able to support ministry by getting more involved in aspects of our shared life at St James’ Church. Be part of helping to build God’s Kingdom here in Weybridge.
Please consider giving monthly to support the ministry and mission of St James’ Church, via the Parish Giving Scheme today.

ALLELUIA FUND – some of the things we would like to achieve!
Our PCC have identified a number of projects that we would like to achieve, but for which we don’t presently have funding. We have named this our Alleluia fund – and by God’s blessing and the generosity of our community, we have already completed some of these projects. Take a look at our updated Alleluia Fund list to see which projects we would like to proceed, and which have recently been completed.
Could you help achieve any of them? Please do pray about these possibilities.
