What is a Church Development Plan (CDP)?
Our Church Development Plan (CDP) is a strategic document that outlines the vision, goals, and priorities of St James’ Church, Parish of Weybridge. It is part of the Parish Needs Process (PNP) and aims to guide our church in our mission, ministry and growth, as we seek to be an intergeneration inclusive community for all. Our first CDP covering 2023-2026 was developed through a process of prayerful listening, discernment, and collaboration with community partners and St James’ PCC. It focuses on areas such as communications, discipleship, leadership, children and young people, and Eco-Church initiatives, ensuring that the church meets the needs of all age groups and reflects the community we serve. The plan is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains relevant and effective in achieving the church’s goals.

What is the Parish Needs Process (PNP)?
The Parish Needs Process (PNP) focuses on listening to God through all aspects of a parish life – the church community, local schools and the wider community. St James’ is accompanied through the process by a Mission Enabler from The Diocese of Guildford.
The goal of the PNP is to support parishes to identify their top priorities for mission and growth for the next two years. This will form the heart of a Church Development Plan. The Diocesan Mission Enabler Team, with its range of specialisms, will then work with St James’ PCC and Leadership Team, supporting us to implement our plan. During 2026 St James’ PCC will review plans and develop a new CDP to lead our mission for 2027-2029, as part of the PNP in Emly Deanery.
