Dementia Action Week 20-26 May

Home / Dementia Action Week 20-26 May

How much do you know about the Weybridge Dementia Action Alliance? No, it’s not a trick question, but we are trying to spread the word. It does take time for a small group to grow but I think I can say that, finally, we are being recognised.

Local businesses such as Brooklands Museum, Handelsbanken, Meadows Ryan Solicitors, Norfolk House Residential Home, NatWest, Sunrise Residential Home, Waitrose and Wiltshire Farm Foods( based in Brooklands), are all members and fully support the DAA’s aim of making Weybridge a dementia friendly town.

Dementia Action Week is an ideal time for all of us to get involved and show those living with dementia, and their carers, that we are doing something to show our support.

This year the Alzheimer’s Society want to use the Week to educate everyone about the simple actions they can take to help people living with dementia feel moreincluded in their community.

The All Our Yesterdays service will take place in St. James Church on Tuesday 21 May at 2.30pm and, if the service in March is anything to go by, it will be well attended with a party atmosphere in full swing afterwards. Not bad going on tea and cakes !!!

We will also be launching the Arts Society Memory Friendly Trail of Discovery around the church. The trail stops at specific areas of the church, such as the Font, the Pulpit, the Altar and the Organ, and asks for peoples thoughts on remembrances in their lives.

There are other events being planned so please keep an eye on our website for more information.
