Arranging a funeral

The arrangements for a funeral should be made through a funeral director. The funeral director will contact St James Parish Office to book funerals in the Church or to arrange for a minister to take a funeral at a crematorium or cemetery. Any who lives within the parish of Weybridge may have a funeral service in the Church.

Once the funeral director has booked the Church or the minister, the person arranging the funeral will be contacted by the minister who is to officiate at the service. The minister will then visit and arrange service with the family or person arranging the funeral.

All Souls and Memorial Services

The church has a Book of Remembrance and names can be placed in the book for a small charge through the Parish Office. Each week people in the Book of Remembrance whose anniversaries fall at that time are prayed for in church.

On All Souls Sunday (Sunday nearest 2 November) each year we pray for the souls of the faithful departed. All those in the Book of Remembrance and others who's names have been submitted prior to the service are individually remembered.

A memorial service is held in May each year for those who have died and who were in the care of the Sam Beare Palliative Care Unit at Weybridge Hospitals. Further details available from the Sam Beare Ward at the hospital.

In addition to the usual Sunday services a Civic Service is held at 3.00pm in the Parish Church on Remembrance Sunday. The service is preceded by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 2.30pm. Following the service in the Church tea is provided in the Parish Centre by the British Legion.
